We are both a bit obsessed with the subscription box craze. Obsessed, and apparently very late to the party. But, now that we are at the party, we’re trying every drink at the bar! Between the two of us we subscribe to Birchbox, Ipsy, Julep, Glossybox, and now StichFix. The first four services are all about beauty and lifestyle products, delivered to your door monthly. We have both received some great products and been introduced to new, innovative brands.
And now we’ve fallen under the Stitch Fix spell. This is more than a subscription service, it’s like a little bit of Christmas every month. Actually, you can choose how often you receive your “fix”. Sign up on the site, fill out a style profile, choose your delivery date, and boom. Your stylist will choose 5 pieces and send them to you. Try them on in the comfort of your own home, keep and pay for what want, and send back the rest. You pay a $20 styling fee when you set up your first fix. That fee is then credited towards whatever you decide to buy, and if you decide to keep all five items, you get 25% off. Easy! And so fun! You can join or get more information HERE.
BEAR’S FIX: I made sure my stylist knew I loved tank tops and maxi dreses/skirts. I specifically asked for no short dresses or skirts, and I also opted to skip any accessories for this fix. I made note of the fact that I usually have to order blouses and tops in “tall” and prefer longer shirts. In addition, I sent my stylist a link to one of my Pinterest boards with fashions and styles that I like.
Kahlo Embroidered Racerback Tank
First Thoughts: I had pinned this tank in a different color, so I was excited I got it. I liked the navy/yellow combo I pinned a bit better, but I’ll give it a try.
After trying it on: Love it. This is the kind of tank I wear all summer, loose and breezy. The embroidery is pretty, and hey-I had an easy 4th of July outfit!
The Verdict: Keep!
Colibri Chevron Print Sleeveless Blouse
First Thoughts: Blah.
After trying it on: Blah. I didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. The colors were a bit drab, and the fit was comfortable, but not especially flattering.
The Verdict: Sent Back
Sasha Embroidery Detail Button Up Tank
First Thoughts: Cute, looked a bit short.
After trying it on: It was a bit shorter than I usually like to wear, but the embroidery detailing made this top unique and pretty, and I think I’d get a lot of wear out of it.
The Verdict: It’s a Keeper.
Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean
First Thoughts: Obviously, my stylist looked at my Pinterest board as many of the outfits include a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans. I have a pair already that I like, but I’m still hunting for a pair I love.
After trying it on: These were not that pair! They were super comfortable, but the back pockets were very tiny, which is not flattering on, shall we say, a more ample backside. Also, the crotch was a bit saggy. This is a common problem for me with jeans. Am I short waisted? Long waisted? Who knows, I just know I often feel like I need to pull my pants up to my armpits in order to remedy this problem. Hmm.
The Verdict: Sent Back
Palmer Crochet Trim Hi-Lo Maxi Dress
First Thoughts: The detailing on this was gorgeous, also I have a similar dark purple dress with halter top in my closet already.
After trying it on: This was a tough one. It fit well, was very pretty, and I really liked the hi-lo hemline. However, it was made of a material that obviously wrinkled easily, it needed a strapless bra, and would need to be dry cleaned. Those were the deciding factors for me. Too high-maintenance of a dress.
The Verdict: Sent Back
BIRD’S FIX: My stylist said I ranked highly with boho as a style, so I knew I was going to be happy! I’m usually all over the place when it comes to a certain style that represents me, because I like to mix it up, but boho is a look that goes with a lot and happens to be one of my favorites. I also linked my Pinterest to my style profile, I love that feature because you really get a good idea what things a person tends to gravitate to! My fashion boards are seriously a mile long! I really didn’t rule anything out on my profile, I’m up for anything! Note* Before each shipment for the month, you can provide your stylist any notes for items needed for upcoming trips and events! Gotta love that!!
LA MADE Ida 3/4 Sleeve Striped Shirt Dress
First Thoughts: I love stripes and the button down front. I usually like shorter summer dresses but this was a nice length to dress up or down.
After trying it on: It felt super comfy and was with the tie belt, was flattering to the figure. Once I put wedges on, I liked it even better! I wore it to the salon that day and got a lot of compliments. The verdict: KEEPER!!
Kut From The Kloth Cai Boyfriend Short
First Thoughts: I wasn’t too crazy about the length. I’m totally into the boyfriend jean look, but wasn’t sure about the same look with shorts.
After trying it on: Surprised! They fit perfect! These shorts would be great with a white tee, vintage belt, and converse or a flowy top with wedges!
The verdict: KEEPER!
Sanctuary Demmi Snap Front Twin Print Tank Top
First thoughts: This was my favorite of the group. Love the print and I have a few tops from Sanctuary, so I knew I was going to like this one.
After trying it on: Fit great! I have so much in my wardrobe that will work with this! This print will be great for fall under a blazer!
The verdict: KEEPER
OLIVE & OAK Tria Tie-Dye V-Back Tank
First thoughts: I like Tie-Dye usually as long as its not too much. I little bit goes a long way ya know? This top was super soft and I really like the back.
After trying it on: It was even cuter once I tried it on. This would be a great top for my new shorts! Also paired with skinny white jeans!
The verdict: KEEPER!
PIXLEY Amy Bamboo Enamel Bangle Set
First Thoughts: I’m bracelet crazy but I wasn’t loving these. I lean more towards beads, precious stones, fabrics, and such. One bangle was plain and the other had a few crystals. I could possibly add this to my collection or wear them alone.
After trying them on: They were okay, wasn’t in love and I thought $38 was a bit much. But……. Since I was keeping everything else, I wanted to get my “Buy all Discount” Smart don’t ya think??? I received $77.50 off my order, sooooo…….
The verdict: Keeper (in the name of savings)
