1. Birchbox– I’ve confessed my addiction to subscription boxes in past blog posts. I have tried several, including Stitch Fix, Glossybox, Ipsy, and Birchbox. In the beauty product category, Birchbox is hands down my favorite. For $10 a month you receive 5 samples ranging from make-up and perfume to lotions and hair products. I have pretty much used and loved almost every product and even purchased full size versions of several of the samples.
In last month’s box I discovered my new all time favorite, must-have product-Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream. I have extremely dry skin and I use this as a facial lotion. It may be too oily for some, but it absorbs quickly and leaves my skin looking and feeling great. The other Birchbox sample I’ve been loving lately is Marcelle’s BB Cream. I’ve tried several BB creams in the past, and this one is the best. The texture and coverage is just perfect. Love it. If you’re like me, and don’t like to spend a lot of money trying new brands and products, Birchbox is for you. You’ll be introduced to a lot of new and fun beauty items. Do it! You can subscribe HERE.
2. The Killing-I’m in a little bit of a depression, as one of my favorite shows, The Killing, just wrapped up its series finale with its 4th season on Netflix. The first three seasons were on AMC, and they kept cancelling it and bringing it back, causing a roller coaster of sadness and euphoria on my part. This 4th season was probably my least favorite of the four, but I still loved it. Start with season one, and get ready to binge watch. It’s a dark murder mystery set in Seattle that will draw you in and have you hooked. And just try not to fall in love with the lead character Holder. He’s the most flawed, lovable character on television in a long time. This is binge watching material at its best. Just make sure the kids are in bed; they’ll have nightmares for weeks.
3. PIKO Tops-I happened upon these tops on another blog about 6 months ago, bought a few online, and instantly became a fan. I love a loose fitting top that doesn’t make you feel frumpy. They come in several styles and about a million colors. I own a red long sleeve version, a grey crewneck short sleeve version, and a pink v-neck. The long sleeve and the crew neck have fitted arms and a slouchy fit that works great with skinny jeans or with a half tuck and boyfriend jeans. The V-neck is slouchy in the arms and body, and looks cute with a tank top or cami, as it usually ends up off the shoulder. (especially when hitting golf balls, as exhibited in the cheesy photo on the far left!) Now my favorite boutique here in Scottsdale, Pretty Please, carries Pikos, so I don’t have to go far for my new favorite shirt! Tip: Order down a size, they are roomy!
4. Sonia Kashuk Blending Sponge-Well, I’m officially an adult. I no longer apply my foundation with my fingers; I’ve been introduced to the blending sponge. My friend Lindsay has this more expensive version, and she told me I had to try it. I was strolling through Target and found the cheaper Sonia Kashuk version, and decided to give it a try. I can’t really comment on how it compares to the more expensive Buaety Blender, but I feel this one does a great job of blending and creating a flawless finish with your foundation. And it leaves you hands a lot cleaner than the alternative. Bonus!
I hope you enjoyed this month’s Four Favorites! What have you been loving lately?
