I know y’all are wondering what have we been up to, right? Well, what we HAVEN’T been up to is blogging….sorry we’ve been a little M.I.A. We’ll try to get back on schedule, but for now, we’ll just fill you in on what we’ve been doing. To give you a hint…it’s been a whole lotta horse showing and a whole lotta taxes.
It’s been a bit crazy here in my world! We’ve been on the horse show trail, first working horses in Crested Butte, Colorado, then on to the Idaho Futurity in Nampa, and we’re now headed to Rancho Murieta, California for the El Rancho Futurity. It’s been a great trip so far, with Grant placing 3rd, 13th, and 15th in the Open Futurity and 8th in the 5/6 Open in Nampa. Also, Fallon Nuttall, who works for Grant, WON the Non Pro Futurity! Here’s hoping the show in Rancho treats us just as well!
We also managed to fit in some fun, celebrating Grant’s 31st birthday with a limo ride and steak dinner one night and attending an awesome concert another night. I now have a new music obsession…Old Dominion-you have to check them out!
Well, I can now come up for air. I spent the last week in the trenches of my office finishing up our taxes. Now, I admit, I could probably be a little more organized throughout the year and make this a less torturous process. Every year I tell myself I’ll do a better job staying on top of things, and every year I’m in the same place…crying on my office floor. I kid. It’s not that bad, but it is a time sucker, and nothing feels better than mailing that big, fat envelope to the accountant. Done. At least until January when it all begins again.
Other than reveling in the joys of tax preparation, I’ve been hanging out with my little diva-chauffeuring her around town to her various engagements, swimming dates, and parties. And to round out my life lately, we’re will be attending a formal wedding next weekend. Nothing like the word “formal” on an invitation to send a cowboy into a panic. Thankfully, we found a wonderfully patient employee at Nordstrom Rack, and walked out with a black suit, shirt, and tie. Now, we only have to round up shoes, socks, and a belt! Pray for us!
