I’ve shared in the past that my favorite places to shop are Target and The Gap. I was raised by probably the most frugal woman in the world, and it has worn off on me a little bit. However, if I splurge, my favorite place to do it is Nordstrom. And going on right now is Nordstrom’s biggest and most exciting sale of the year, their Anniversary Sale. What makes this sale so fun is that it’s not last season’s merchandise being cleared out. It’s new stuff for Fall, and the savings are often HUGE. All of the items in the sale will go back up to their regular price on August 4th.
The bummer of this sale is that currently it’s 106 degrees here in Scottsdale, and it’s hard to imagine ever in a million years needing to wear some of these gorgeous jackets, sweaters, and boots. But, I put my imagination into overdrive and have made several purchases keeping our chilly (high 60s) winter days in mind. My friend Christa, a fellow Nordstrom devotee, has helped me (and made me feel a lot less guilty about my purchases), so I’ll share some of our favorite buys so far.
Shoes: Christa won in the shoe buying contest. She got these super cute BP Booties and this pair of colorful sneakers. I didn’t have any luck in the shoe department, and honestly, I’m holding out for this pair of Sam Edelman leopard flats for fall. They’ve been on my Nordstrom wish list for a good year now. They will be mine.
Workout Wear: We both stocked up on Zella. Their workout capris are comparable to Lululemon, but at a much better price point. Their Live-In Leggings get amazing reviews and can cross over easily from the gym to daily wear. We also each bought their Move It Capri. These look great for travel (and we both do our share of sitting in trucks for extended periods of time driving to horse shows) and running around town. Note: We both sized down in the leggings and up in the Move It Capri. There’s nothing worse than droopy leggings…
Jackets: I purchased this Bebe Knit & Faux Leather Jacket and I love it, but it’s going back. It is just way too warm and heavy for this Arizona girl. I would probably wear it only a few times a year if I was lucky. One thing I always think about is the cost per wear, and this jacket just wouldn’t be worth it. However, for those of you living in colder climates, you should check this jacket out! I love the hood, the quilted sleeves, and the mix of leather and knit materials.
Sweaters: We both online shopped for our sweaters, and our packages are on their way, so I’ll have to do another post with photos of the actual items. I went for two long sweaters, a black and white Aztec print and an oatmeal colored open drape sweater that is no longer available-the full price version can be found in the pic below and here. I’m always looking for something cute to wear with leggings in the winter and LONG is key as I do my best to follow the fashion rule “Leggings are not Pants”. You’re welcome. Christa purchased the Michael Kors cardigan with leather sleeves-looks so cute online! Hopefully our sweaters are keepers.
So that’s the damage so far. You gotta love Nordstrom! They make shopping, shipping, and returns so easy, that even this frugal girl goes a little shopping crazy. I’ve still got my eye on a couple items, so I’ll try to do one more post with the final report! The Anniversary Sale runs through August 3rd, prices go up on the 4th. Hurry, Hurry!
Peace & Shopping,
Bear “McKenzie P.”
