When it comes to horse happenings in Fort Worth, the 2014 Summer Spectacular is one of the premier events held throughout the year. A fun new competition that was held during the show was the 1st annual Cut ‘N Duck Team Roping, benefiting the NCHA Foundation. 426 teams (yes I said 426!) competed for a custom Cactus Saddle awarded to the high money earner and treatments from M/M Equine Spa. High Brow Cat provided complimentary burgers and beer as well as Gist buckles to the champion team.
Rebecca Brian, NCHA Director of Development, and Grant Setnicka (my handsome man) put on quite the event and people are still abuzz! $11,000 was raised from the roping and 100 new NCHA members joined! Gotta love those numbers and I have to hand it to all that were involved, WELL DONE!! It is not an easy feat to keep things moving-especially since the last roper left the box at 3:30 am! (yes, that is A.M.)
A big thanks to Laura Rodgers for all the photos!
In the many years that I’ve been coming to Fort Worth, not only to compete but to support the NCHA, it is so nice to see a refreshing and new event be so successful. As every one knows in every association, change is kinda scary but it’s pretty darn cool that the NCHA allowed this event to be held and take a chance on something different. I’m already looking forward to next year…..We may even have to add an extra day on to the show!!!!
