Well its been a little over a week since the Derby in Las Vegas ended, and I’m just now feeling back to normal!! I haven’t been to a horse show at the South Point Casino in quite some time and I guess I was just so excited, I tried to take it all in! And then some! This year’s PCCHA Core Balance Derby and Classic/Challenge was a great show! Finals days had so many smokin’ runs; it made for some really good watchin’! Here is a little re-cap list of all the winners in each division-

*Non Pro Derby Champion- Purple Reyn owned and shown by Brandon Dufurrena
*Unlimited Amateur Derby Champion- Rubys CD owned and shown by Ron Malone

OK, on to the fun things we got into outside the horse show! The very first night we were in Vegas, Steven Feiner invited us to the Kid Rock concert at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino. Grant is probably one of his biggest fans, so that was an easy decision. (he sang every word to every song and no, I’m not exaggerating) The concert was held at the Cosmo pool and Steven reserved our group a swanky cabana- This is the way to see a concert! I have never seen Kid Rock live before and I have to say, he definitely puts on a bad ass show! Thank you Steven for a stellar night!
I’m always amazed at how many fantastic restaurants there are in Las Vegas! One evening, we dined at Bartolotta Ristorante Di Mare inside the Wynn Hotel and Casino. One word describes everything- EXQUISITE! This was one of my most memorable meals I’ve had! If you like Italian seafood, this is one place that you must put on your dining bucket list! The fish is flown in daily from Italy!!! Since we had a large group, Steven (yes, this was another treat courtesy of the always gracious Steven Feiner) ordered everything family style. We got a little taste of everything from the apps to the final entrees. I can’t tell you my favorite because I’m not sure what was ordered but I LOVED EVERY SINGLE PLATE!
I think that fitting in a show while you’re in Vegas is a great way to end your trip! Absinthe at the Caesars Palace has both comedy and acrobatics all in one. But beware, this is not a family show and can be a little raunchy for those of you that are a bit light-hearted. I for one, laughed so hard my cheeks were sore and the acrobatic parts of the show- UNBELIEVABLE! If you’re looking for something different, fun and a little out there-GO SEE ABSINTHE!
So we packed in a lot while in Vegas and although we were all exhausted, we made such great memories! The best part was trying new things and enjoying time with friends and family. The horse is what brings us all together and sharing in that passion is so gratifying. I’d say we are a VERY blessed little group of folks.
