Our very first Western Wednesday post reflected on our love for the Barranada shirt line and our sorrow upon hearing that the brand was no longer in business. You can catch up by reading it here. Since then, The Bird and I have both been searching for our new favorite show shirt, and I am fairly certain our show wardrobes will be expanding a bit! We’ve found several great brands already, and we’ll be sharing them with you over the next few weeks.
First up-Miller Ranch. I was recently in Las Vegas for the NRCHA Stallion Stakes and I visited Churchill’s Western Tack & Apparel. I had tried on the Miller Ranch Coral Pinpoint shirt in the past and I knew it was a contender. Luckily, since I had my 3 year old daughter in tow, and trying on clothing while keeping her form tearing down the store is next to impossible, my friend Lindsay Wadhams agreed to be my model. Here she is wearing the coral shirt. We were drawn to the color and once she tried it on we were sold.
The Miller Ranch dress shirts are made of 100% cotton, are lightweight, and slightly fitted. They have a yoke detailing in the back which adds a nice western touch. They are priced at $84.95. Lindsay and I have a similar style (ok, she may have a stronger love for rhinestones than I do) but we both love that this shirt can be worn alone or dressed up with a colorful scarf (which she bought as well!). For size reference, Lindsay is wearing an XS, and I wear a Medium in this brand. I would say they run a bit big, as I usually wear a large in dress shirts.
Why stop with just one? When you find a great fitting shirt, you need to stock up! So here was our second favorite of the day-the Purple Checker Pinpoint. I love a checkered shirt. I have a blue one from JCrew that I have been wearing for about 10 years. I like the western feel you get with the checkered look, and this one especially has a pretty light purple color from far away.
So our first search for our new favorite show shirt was successful! Lindsay ended up buying both the coral and the purple checker print. Especially with warmer weather on the way, these shirts will be getting a lot of wear! You can purchase your own through Churchill’s or Miller Ranch’s websites.
We have two more brands coming up, Georg Roth and CR Ranch Wear….pretty sure you’re gonna love them both!
