For our next installment of Western Wednesday, I visited with Rhea Follett, owner and creative visionary behind CR RanchWear. First a little back story… CR RanchWear was created on a whim when Rhea decided to make some western shirts during the debut of her western pajama line at the 2008 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The shirts quickly sold out and CR RanchWear was born! Since then, the company has grown to the point where there are four people making shirts in Dallas. Rhea tells me the goal of CR RanchWear is to help their customers find shirts that make them feel beautiful. “If you look good, you feel more confident and the end result is that you perform better.” I could not agree more!
I tried on a couple of the different styles, I will tell you, it is EXTREMELY hard to pick a favorite! A few of my top contenders are the chocolate Italian cotton with chocolate Swarovski crystals ($165) and the periwinkle blue with contrasting cuff and collar ($165) and periwinkle Swarovski crystals. One thing I absolutely love is the unique placement of the crystals. They are very understated but stand out and pick up the light in the most beautiful way. When I’ve seen CR RanchWear in the show pen, it’s just the right amount of sparkle. The cutters are a bit more conservative than other disciplines in the Quarter Horse world, but I like seeing a bit of classy sparkle in the cutting pen! Check out the crystal detail in these close-up pics.
The day I met Rhea and tried on a couple shirts, I didn’t have my “cowgirl gear” on because I wanted to see if it was a shirt I’d also wear out on the town. Well, lets just say… I think I have found my perfect button down!! FINALLY!!!!
All CR RanchWear shirts can be custom made for an extra $40, a small price to pay for a beautifully handmade (IN TEXAS) shirt that will likely be your “go to” shirt for the show pen AND a night on the town. Rhea welcomes any ideas or input a customer may have, so you can add a little of your style to have a truly customized shirt. And if you men out there are feeling left out, don’t fret. CR RanchWear makes beautiful men’s shirts as well!
The Super Stakes wrap up this Saturday with the Non-Pro and Open finals, so if you’re in the Fort Worth area, head over to see Rhea in the CR RanchWear booth. Whether you pick a CR off the rack or order a custom CR, I promise, you will not be disappointed!
You can also keep up with them on Facebook!
