Horse show in Vegas????!!! I’m all in! The SouthPoint Arena & Equestrian Center is host to the 2014 PCCHA Core Balance Derby & Classic/Challenge. This is one of the finest horse facilities in the world; the entire complex is climate-controlled and includes a vet clinic, farrier center, feed & tack store, and most importantly a bar that overlooks the arena! One of my favorite things about the horse shows here is the convenience of it all; you don’t even have to see the light of day- a very common occurrence in Las Vegas. Having your hotel, stalls, arena-and not to mention a casino with great restaurants and entertainment all under one big roof-you can’t beat that!!!
The above pictures are of the brand new practice arenas and as you can see……Amazing! We are sure liking this since it’s, oh about 105 degrees outside!
OK, on to my favorite things to do in this crazy city! The list is endless, so many things to do, it will make your head spin, as if the free drinks at the tables don’t help with that enough. I’ll keep this one short and sweet but always feel free to ask me for more of the recommendations on my monster list!

Michael’s is by far one of the finest restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of dining in. Appropriately named after Michael Gaughan, owner of the SouthPoint. Michael’s is very expensive but well worth it! A very special treat! The past two evenings, we have dined in the Silverado Steakhouse. If your craving something other than a steak, try the pan seared halibut or the king crab legs. Both are delish!
Loved this Pinot!! David Bruce Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
The Del-Mar lounge is always a popular hangout during the show, located right by the sports book. I also found the Grandview lounge to be a nice little spot. When I’m not busy with the show, I like to enjoy some time at the pool or some pampering at the Costa Del Sur Spa & Salon. I think the deep tissue sports therapy is calling my name!
I always try and make it to the main strip while I’m here for a horse show. Many of my favorite restaurants are in Las Vegas! Sushi Roku in the shops at Caesars Palace-wonderful sushi and a great view of the strip. It is also open for lunch so I like to make it my lunch spot during my shopping trips. STK Steakhouse in the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino never disappoints! Fun atmosphere and a definite see and be seen hot spot. Super fun place with a big group! Japonais in the Mirage is a Contemporary Japanese restaurant. I love Japonais because not only is the food outstanding, it’s beautiful. If you’re not into sushi, have no fear! The items featured on their robata portion of the menu, usually make me lean away from the sushi!
The Shopping in Las Vegas is second to none. I’m pretty sure every store that is in existence is here. Fashion Show Mall, The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, and Miracle Mile are always a must stop, but in every casino nowadays, you will find top notch shopping for every budget.
If you’re looking for a wild night out, go for Marquee Nightclub at the Cosmo, 1 Oak at the the Mirage, Hyde Bellagio, XS at Encore, or the 80,000 square ft. of craziness- Hakkasan at MGM Grand. I assure you any of these spots will give you with a night to remember!
The PCCHA Core Balance Derby & Classic/Challenge continues until Sunday June 16th. If you’re in Las Vegas, be sure and stop by the SouthPoint! You’ll get a little taste of our cutting world in one of the nicest facilities all while getting your Vegas fix!
